No matter how cruel the day was, the sun will rise tomorrow for a new day
Martin is a 19 year old Kenyan artist, inspired by Sandro Botticeli. The title of this post is a line from one of his favorite quotes. Martin grew up at Kandara Children’s Home after the passing of his mother. Today we have the pleasure and privilege of highlighting some of his work.
"I started having interest in the various kinds of art once I
joined secondary school though while in primary school I was still in to
it. The insider magazine crew made visits to our school bringing art
competitions which I gladly took part in."
"I specialised in art that would interest the youth,
people my age. The art subjects varied from gothic art, graffiti, vector
tattoos, and other sorts. But I utilised more of my art on cards due to
lack of resourses to do more."
"Patience and determination are the key values I have attained from the
work. You never quit until you see the outcome of your work. Once I
begin I have fight hard to maintain quality
with the few resources I have thus producing art beyond what I
initially thought."
"I try to use the abstractness of the art to create various stories
based on the theme I choose or I am given. I usually ask people
what they feel like seeing in my art and I find they have different
ideas. I mostly base my art on my moods."
